WWBT-TV in Richmond, Va. is reporting that a single-engine plane crashed in wooded area near the Williamsburg Landing subdivision in Jams City County, Va. There has been one confirmed fatality in the incident, the fire department confirmed.
?The single engine Cessna crashed in a wooded area, 50 yards from a home. This is in Williamsburg Landing retirement community,? WAVY-TV?s Anne McNamera reports.

Assistant Fire Chief Bob Ryalls said the plane went down on Boatright Court near the Williamsburg/Jamestown Airport Friday afternoon. He said it went down shortly before 5 p.m. in a wooded area about 50 yards from a residence.
There was no fire.
Investigators have confirmed one fatality. Chief Ryalls said due to the direct impact with the ground, he is unsure if there were other people inside the plane at this point.
The cause of the crash was not immediately known.
