PUEBLO ? New Colorado State University System Chancellor Michael Martin will make his first official visit to Pueblo on Aug. 23-24. The CSU System Board of Governors announced in June that Martin was appointed the next chancellor of the three-campus, statewide system. Martin began his duties on August 15.
Martin comes to the CSU System from Louisiana State University, where he served as chancellor since 2008. Prior to that, he was president at of New Mexico State University, a designated Hispanic Serving Institution like CSU-Pueblo, where he successfully worked to bolster fundraising and increase enrollment. Martin was recommended to the Board by an 11-member committee that spent nearly eight months conducting a nationwide search for the next chancellor.
The community will have two chances to meet Chancellor Martin -- at a reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 23 or a 7:30 a.m. breakfast reception, both in the Hearthwell Lounge.? Martin will meet with representatives of the administration, faculty, staff, and students throughout the day on Friday before participating in the Greater Pueblo Chamber?s Legislative barbeque at the Colorado State Fair later that evening.
