(AP) ? Kansas State's offense is at its best when quarterback Collin Klein has the ball in his hands as much as possible.

The Wildcats defense doesn't mind it either.

Klein ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns and sixth-ranked Kansas State held off Iowa State 27-21 for its fifth straight win over the Cyclones.

Klein also threw for 187 yards for the Wildcats (6-0, 3-0 Big 12), who held the ball for over 40 minutes, converted on eight of 17 third downs and remained unbeaten heading into next week's showdown with West Virginia.

Kansas State held the Cyclones (4-2, 1-2) to just 231 yards of offense, in large part because Klein hardly ever let them touch the ball.

"It's an honor. It's a team game, though. It's about all 11 of us out there, it's about all 11 of us out there to execute, be calm in a high pressure situation," Klein said. "We were able to get some big, big first downs."

Iowa State still had a chance for the game-winning drive from its own 3-yard line with 2:17 left. But the Wildcats defense ? no doubt as fresh as it could be in such a late spot ? stopped the Cyclones on downs.

Jared Barnett threw for 166 yards and two TDs for Iowa State, which appears to be much better than many thought this season.

But like every team before them, the Cyclones had no answer for the methodical Klein.

"It was like he always does. He ran the ball well, the managed the ballgame well, threw the ball reasonably. His leadership was good," Kansas State coach Bill Snyder said.

Saturday's win was a vintage performance by Klein, who outgained the Cyclones by himself and showed why he's among the nation's best quarterbacks on the run.

One play in particular told the story of the day. Facing third-and-long deep in Iowa State territory, Klein hung in a collapsing pocket long enough for the right side of the field to open up. He bounced out of trouble and, with defenders going the other way, darted 12 yards to put Kansas State up 24-14 with 49 seconds left in the third quarter.

"Patience. He followed his blocks, and sometimes even when there wasn't a hole he just waited it out. You know, he's not a hard runner. He's a tough runner," Iowa State linebacker Jeremiah George said. "He's not going to bruise you around. He's just going to wait, wait, wait."

But to its credit, Iowa State simply wouldn't go away.

The Cyclones, helped immensely by a pass interference call on the Wildcats at the goal line, answered with a 2-yard TD run by Jeff Woody to get within 24-21 with 12:34 to go.

The problem was Iowa State's defense had already been on the field for 30 minutes by then, and the Wildcats wisely chose to wear the Cyclones out on the ground.

Though Kansas State had to settle for a 25-yard field goal from Anthony Cantele, they burned over eight minutes driving down the field.

Iowa State had two more chances. It was stuffed on fourth down both times.

"I think we played well defensively," Snyder said. "We had our moments, but we certainly had things we'd like to have back."

What had been torrential downpours eased by the late morning kickoff. Still, the game was played on a soggy field with heavy, swirling wind and two of the Big 12's best defenses squaring off.

None of that seemed to matter early on, since the Cyclones and Wildcats each found ways to put up points.

Iowa State jumped ahead 7-3 on Shontrelle Johnson's 2-yard TD grab to open the second quarter.

Klein answered, bullying his way through a pile of defenders for a critical fourth-down conversion at the Iowa State 3-yard line. Klein punched it in from 2 yards out to make it 10-7, Kansas State, with 8:18 left in the first half.

Barnett shook off a bad interception at the Kansas State goal line with a 30-yard TD pass to a wide-open Ernst Brun in the flat. But Klein's skills as a runner helped buy him enough room to toss a 45-yard completion to Tyler Lockett, and his 6-yard TD run put the Wildcats ahead 17-14 at halftime.

"He's getting the ball, so something good is going to happen. That's just our thought," Kansas State wide receiver Chris Harper said of Klein.

Iowa State played without its leading rusher, James White, who missed the game with a knee injury that Rhoads said after the game will likely keep him out for two weeks.

The Cyclones struggled without White, rushing for just 65 yards on 24 carries. But given how much clock Klein and the Wildcats ate up, it's not like White would gotten a lot of carries anyway.

"It reads like a Bill Snyder-authored novel. Standard Kansas State football game, coached by a legendary coach and quarterbacked by a great, great football player," Rhoads said.

Great Advice When Filing For Personal Bankruptcy | Siben & Siben ...

TIP! When filing for bankruptcy it is not always the case that all debts will be discharged. Filing a Chapter 13 allows debt restructuring, so you will only have to pay creditors part of your bill.

There are good and bad feelings associated with bankruptcy. Be prepared to go through your finances with a fine toothed comb and share the information with lots of unfamiliar people. However, when your bankruptcy is over, you can re-establish your finances and no longer need to tolerate bill collectors. Follow this article for excellent tips on easing your bankruptcy.

TIP! When filing for bankruptcy, make sure that you hire a lawyer to represent you. Here are some of the things a qualified bankruptcy attorney can do for you: give you solid advice, simplify the complexity of the process, represent you in the courtroom.

Know the laws and guidelines about bankruptcy before you formally file. There are a lot of pitfalls in the personal bankruptcy code that could lead to issues with your case. Making mistakes can have an effect on the outcome of your case. Do the proper research on bankruptcy before taking the next step. This will help your process go smoother.

TIP! If you are truly faced with bankruptcy, avoid blowing your savings or retirement money, trying to pay off debts. Unless there is no other choice a retirement account should not be used.

Take the time to find a simpler solution to your financial issues, before filing for bankruptcy. If your debts are really not overwhelming, you may find the assistance you need by consulting a consumer credit counselor. You could even negotiate for lower payments. However, you should ensure that you always obtain a written record of all the changes to your debt that you?ve agreed to.

TIP! Look for a local bankruptcy lawyer who has an excellent reputation. Once you have chosen an attorney, ask if they offer free consultations.

After you?ve filed for bankruptcy, it is important to begin building your credit score by obtaining a credit card. Using secured credit cards allows you to do this even if your current credit score is extremely poor. You will see high rates on these cards, but this is going to be the case with any credit you get at this time. When you have a fresh line of credit that?s in good standing, you?ll be more likely to qualify for loans or new credit cards.

TIP! Don?t file for bankruptcy until you know what assets of yours can and can?t be seized. To find an itemized list detailing assets exempt from bankruptcy, find the Bankruptcy Code.

Prior to filing, do not use your credit card to get a cash advance, knowing your debts will be eliminated. Doing so constitutes fraud. You can easily be ordered to repay all of this money, by the courts.

TIP! If you are thinking about filing for bankruptcy, one of the first things you should do is look into the laws of your state. For instance, it?s prohibited for an individual to transfer assets to someone else a year before filing for bankruptcy.

Do not delay the bankruptcy filing if it has become a necessary reality. Once you have decided that you need to file bankruptcy, it is best to get on with it. You will only fall further and further behind the financial eight ball if you continue to delay. Stress has an adverse affect on your health and negatively impacts your life. The sooner you file, the sooner you can begin to rebuild.

TIP! Check the accuracy of all information before it is filed. Don?t just assume that the attorney will remember it automatically.

Before you make the decision to file Chapter 7 personal bankruptcy, take time to think about anyone it could affect. Speak to an attorney or read the bankruptcy laws in your state to find out if certain loans can be excluded from your filing. But, creditors will ask for the money from your co-debtor.

TIP! It is important to send in your bill payments before their due date and to send a little extra when you can. Avoid charging up your credit card and do not purchase items you cannot afford.

Although it is tempting to toss out the idea of ever owning credit cards again, think again. That is not a great idea, because using credit builds better credit. If you aren?t using any credit, then it will be very difficult to get your credit score high enough to be able to purchase things like a car or home in the future. Take it slow and get yourself one credit card and slowly rebuild your credit.

TIP! If you are feeling down, use the internet to chat with other people who have been through bankruptcy. It goes without saying that there?s a lot of stress involved with bankruptcy.

Think about the pros and cons before filing. Just know that what you learn today is going to help you out a lot in learning about bankruptcy. This article should help you learn more about personal bankruptcy. Utilize this advice, and you?ll discover that you?ll be feeling a lot better

?Prettiest girl at the dance?: Swing-state voters share their stories

As Election Day approaches, Yahoo News has asked voters in swing states to share what it's like being in the thick of things as President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney smother them with attention. This week, we look at Iowa and New Hampshire, which, as the nation's first caucus and primary holders, have been getting candidate attention since last year. In their own words and photos, here are some excerpts from voters on the ground in those key states. Live in a swing state and want to share your story? Here's how.

I moved here from California three years ago, so this is my first presidential election in New Hampshire

A few weekends ago, I took my son, Milo (almost 3), to go canvassing in our town [for President Barack Obama]. When we knocked on doors, we found most people we met were supporting Obama. Milo enjoyed ringing the doorbells and exploring people's gardens. It's not unlike trick or treating, really.

As much as we found supporters, people were reluctant to volunteer or get involved in the campaign. I get it. I'm busy, too. Here in New Hampshire, we don't like to bother our neighbors. But when I did talk to my neighbors, even the ones who disagreed with me, I had a connection that I didn't have before.

I suppose it helps soften the antagonism when your 3-year-old sings "Vote Obama!" We'll be canvassing again soon.

?Sabina Chen, 44, Pelham, N.H.

Romney supporters pose with campaign signs after a rally featuring Paul Ryan in Derry, N.H., on Sept. 29, 2012. (Luke N. Vargas, Political Courier Media)Romney supporters pose with campaign signs after a rally featuring Paul Ryan in Derry, N.H., on Sept. 29, 2012.??

It has been exciting, especially these last few months, in Iowa. It's like being the prettiest girl at the dance.

After the first televised debate, Obama made a few more stops in the Hawkeye State to give speeches. Like the percentages of bumper stickers on cars I've seen on the highway, the media coverage, ads, radio spots and lawn signs lean 80/20 for President Obama. ?

To this 37-year-old graphic designer, it does feel as if the Republicans have written off Iowa. Perhaps they view it simply as a lost state going to Obama. The Democrats focus [on it] as if it's the only state in the country that can give votes. Bill Clinton is coming soon for a few speeches at The [U.S.] Capitol. The support and attention is evident.

?Dante Cinder, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Joe Biden with volunteer Reesa GuerreroRemedios Guerrero

There have been times when the voters I called would refuse [to talk], times when the person I talk to is downright rude, and even times when I was screamed at, called every name in the book.

I've spoken to voters who still believe President Obama is not an American. And there were short, civil discussions about why some don't support the president.

Yet I've also spoken to supporters who lifted my spirits. Some of them even thanked me for being a volunteer in the campaign to re-elect the president.

?Reesa Guerrero, Claremont, N.H.

What I notice most is the advertising on the public television channels.

Early on, before the Republican National Convention, most advertising breaks in broadcast programming would feature three to four political ads. Since the convention, I'm seeing four to six political ads during each advertising break. Many ads are from special interest groups and are not endorsed by either Barack Obama or [Mitt] Romney.

What I hear most from people I talk to is that they are tired of the negative tone of the advertising, particularly the ads done by the special interest groups.

?Jerry Wedel, 70, Marion, Iowa

To be honest I don't see many yard signs for either candidate.

Four years ago, there were large groups of Obama supporters waving "Got Hope?" signs at nearly every intersection in town and at entrance ramps along [Highway] 89. I don't see the same enthusiasm for Obama this time around, so I think New Hampshire will vote for Romney for president.

?Stephen L. Heffron, New London, N.H., in an email to Yahoo News

Paul Ryan visits Burlington, Iowa, on Oct. 2, 2012. (Photo by iowapix on Flickr) Paul Ryan visits Burlington, Iowa, on Oct. 2, 2012. (Photo by iowapix on Flickr)

The campaign season can be a very long, tiresome process in Iowa.

As a voter in a key swing state, I assume I have watched rallies from both candidates much earlier and with more frequency than those in other states. I easily see 10 to 15 campaign ads a day for Mitt Romney; there's a slightly smaller amount for Barack Obama?about eight to 13 campaign ads daily.

The most memorable campaign commercial in my opinion is for Barack Obama. It emphasizes citizens making their own health-care decisions, moving forward (not back), and looking to the future (not the past). With each emphasized point, the positive message shows Barack Obama campaigning, while the negative message shows Mitt Romney campaigning. This is the commercial that made me decide it was time to delve deeper into what each candidate has done and what they want to accomplish.

After beating Birds, Yankees look to tame Tigers

NEW YORK (AP) ? CC Sabathia boosted the New York Yankees past the Baltimore Orioles, ending a spellbinding six-week drama that drove and drained both teams.

New York advanced to an AL championship series matchup with Detroit, beating Baltimore 3-1 in Game 5 of their AL division series on Friday behind Sabathia's four-hitter.

Andy Pettitte, the career postseason leader with 19 wins, starts Game 1 for the Yankees on Saturday night with a rested bullpen behind him, opposed by Doug Fister. It's a rematch of last year's division series won by the Tigers in five games and provides a platform for Detroit's Miguel Cabrera, baseball's first Triple Crown winner in 45 years.

"I don't know if you can shut him down, but try to keep him from doing too much damage in the series, and that's key to us winning," Pettitte said.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi faces another big decision. After benching slumping Alex Rodriguez for Game 5 against the Orioles, will he insert him back at third base against a Detroit team with four right-handers in its starting rotation?

To get back to the ALCS for the first time in two years, the Yankees had to shake off Baltimore. The teams were separated by no more than a game from Sept. 3-24, the longest September stretch that tight between first- and second-place clubs since the 19th century.

The Yankees had some help from the right field umpire, just as they did against the Orioles in the 1996 ALCS ? hello, Jeffrey Maier.

With New York ahead 1-0 in the sixth, Nate McLouth's drive down the right-field line on a 3-1 pitch was called foul by the slimmest of margins.

Fieldin Culbreth demonstrably waved foul with both arms. Orioles manager Buck Showalter jogged onto the field to ask for a video review, and four umpires went down a tunnel on the third-base side to examine the images on a screen near their dressing room. When they ran back onto the field about two minutes later, they didn't make any signal ? meaning the original call stood. McLouth struck out on the next pitch, ending the inning.

"I saw it go to the right of the pole," Culbreth said. "There is netting there and it didn't touch the netting. It did not change direction," he added, indicating he did not think the ball grazed the pole.

Added crew chief Brian Gorman: "We saw the same thing on the replay. There was no evidence to overturn the decision."

McLouth wondered what the umps would decide.

"It started off fair and it was just hooking a little bit. I thought it was foul just in game speed," McLouth said. "A couple of people mentioned it might've ticked the pole, but he was way closer than I was and I was satisfied after they went down and looked at the replay that it was foul."

Steven Ellis, a fan from the Broad Channel section of Queens, caught the ball with his Yankee cap in the second deck.

"It was foul all the way, never hit the pole," he said.

Back in 1996, the 12-year-old Maier reached over the wall above right fielder Tony Tarasco and deflected Derek Jeter's fly ball. Umpire Richie Garcia called it a home run, which tied the score 4-all in the eighth inning, and the Yankees went on to win in the 11th.

"Just watching at home, I promise," Maier texted to The Associated Press after this play.

Sabathia went on to defeat the Orioles for the second time in six days, Raul Ibanez hit a go-ahead single in the fifth off Jason Hammel after former Baltimore high school star Mark Teixeira singled and swiped second in a rare steal. Diving second baseman Robert Andino just missed gloving Ibanez's hit.

Ichiro Suzuki added an RBI double off the right-center field wall in the sixth. Curtis Granderson boosted the lead to 3-0 with a second-deck solo homer against Troy Patton in the seventh.

Sabathia, who improved to 4-0 in his last eight postseason starts, didn't allow an extra-base hit. He struck out eight, walked two and matched his season high of 121 pitches.

"He didn't pitch all five, but it certainly felt like it, didn't it?" Showalter said.

Sabathia took a one-hit shutout into the eighth but allowed Matt Wieters' leadoff single and Manny Machado's walk. Mark Reynolds struck out, and Lew Ford ? starting at DH in place of Jim Thome ? hit an RBI single.

Andino hit a bouncer to the third-base side that Sabathia gloved, but Eric Chavez left third uncovered and Sabathia's throw to second was late, leaving the bases loaded. With David Robertson warming up in the New York bullpen, McLouth struck out on a changeup and Sabathia escaped when J.J. Hardy hit a slow three-hopper to shortstop that Jeter, playing on a sore left ankle, charged and gloved elegantly before throwing to first just in time.

Sabathia pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, finishing a 121-pitch effort as Wieters hit a comebacker. The Yankees ran out of their dugout to celebrate on the third-base side of the mound and the Orioles walked off slowly and somberly.

"It's been about as much fun as I have had in the big leagues watching how they play the game every day, the standard they held themselves to and the way they raised the bar in Baltimore with each other," said Showalter, who has not reached the LCS in 14 major league seasons.

New York won for the 12th time in 23 meetings between the teams in a matchup so close the Yankees outscored the Orioles 106-102. The teams were within one run of each other at the end of 46 of 52 innings in the division series. New York totaled just 16 runs in the five games and Baltimore 10, ending a dynamic six-week struggle. After 10 different nights in September, the rivals were tied for first.

"They are a very good club and they are a very resilient club," Girardi said. "People thought they were going to go away, they never went away."

NOTES: The crowd of 47,081 was the smallest in 18 postseason games at new Yankee Stadium, which opened in 2009. ... New York is 11-3 in the ALCS. ... The 26 runs were the fewest in a five-game postseason series since St. Louis (12) and Arizona (10) combined for 22 runs in the 2001 NLDS.

The world?s most expensive cocktail will set you back $8,824

Salvatore Calabrese creates the world's most expensive cocktail. (YouTube)Famed cocktail bartender Salvatore Calabrese has broken the Guinness World Records mark for creating the most expensive cocktail in history.

"I'm not only going to make the most expensive cocktail in the world but surely the world's oldest cocktail," Calabrese says in a video documenting the eponymous "Salvatore's Legacy" at the Playboy Club London. He notes that the ingredients used have a combined age of more than 700 years: "730 years of history," he says. "Truly a liquid history in a glass."

For the rest of us, sipping the concoction will cost a hefty $8,824.

ShortList Magazine explains that the four ingredients used to make the cocktail are hundreds of years old: a 1778 Clos de Griffier vieux cognac, a 1770 Kummel liqueur, a circa 1860 Dubb orange Curacao and two dashes of Angostura bitters dating from around 1900.

Calabrese surpassed the previous record holder, a high-end Old Fashioned made by the Skyview Bar in Dubai and worth a reported $6,054.30.

Centrica's British Gas raises prices by 6 percent

LONDON (Reuters) - Centrica PLC, the owner of Britain's biggest energy supplier, is raising its domestic gas and electricity prices by 6 percent next month, saying it was necessary to cover rising wholesale prices and upgrade costs.

Annual dual fuel bills for customers of its British Gas unit will go up an average 80 pounds after November16, Centrica said in a statement on Friday, acknowledging the additional stress this could put on already stretched domestic budgets.

The company said it was facing rising wholesale energy prices against a backdrop of dwindling North Sea gas supplies, as well as higher costs to upgrade the national grid and make it more energy-efficient.

"We know that household budgets are under pressure and this 1.50 pound per week rise will be unwelcome, said British Gas Managing Director Phil Bentley.

"However, we simply cannot ignore the rising costs that are largely outside our control, but which make up most of the bill."

British Gas said it was increasing the help available to customers to reduce their energy consumption, for example in improving their home's insulation.

"We need an energy efficiency culture in Britain today; rising prices don't have to mean rising bills. We are offering a huge amount of help to customers to help them cut the amount of energy they use and keep their bills under control," it said.

The move by British Gas came a day after regulator Ofgem released a report showing that 3 percent of the UK population had debts relating to gas and electricity payments last year.

The numbers were slightly down on 2010 but the report, published late Thursday, said the average amount owed by individuals for gas bills rose by 10 percent to 371 pounds.

"There are signs that the recession and high energy bills are continuing to have an impact on consumers struggling to pay," Ofgem said.

British Gas is the second of the big six energy providers to hike its prices in the past two months, prompting fears from consumer groups that other firms may follow suit.

Shares in Centrica were down 0.7 percent in morning trading.

Colorado's North Central Region Selects Televate for Phase Two ...

October 5, 2012?Vienna, VA?Televate LLC, a leading public safety communications and information technology consulting company, today announced that the North Central Region Broadband Data Coalition (NCRBDC), which includes the City and County of Denver and surrounding jurisdictions that comprise the Denver Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) and North Central Region, has contracted Televate to support its continuing public safety wireless data network requirements project. This program will continue to prepare the Denver metropolitan region for eventual implementation of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN) and potential grant programs associated with the NPSBN.

Televate recently completed phase one of the NCRBDC project to develop a broadband wireless data implementation strategy and formulate a governance structure to facilitate local network management and cost sharing. That program, sponsored by the Denver UASI, delivered detailed broadband wireless requirements and needs analysis, an inventory assessment, and a detailed Long Term Evolution (LTE) broadband Radio Access Network (RAN) design. A comprehensive, ?shovel ready?, LTE design was engineered for the Denver Metro pilot area, including the City and County of Denver and the City of Lakewood. A budgetary conceptual LTE network was also designed for the surrounding 10-county Colorado North Central Region. The NCRBDC broadband network includes a fiber optic and microwave backhaul design to interconnect the BTOP-funded Adams County public safety broadband LTE network with the overall regional network.

Collectively, the LTE network designs supported a comprehensive capital expenditure (CapEx) and operational expenditure (OpEx) analysis required to substantiate the business case study. Televate also facilitated the implementation of a regional governance model to guide future LTE network implementation and operational requirements of the region.

With this additional award, Televate will continue to assist NCRBDC in its LTE public safety broadband activities, governance development, and technical support for NPSBN implementation in the North Central Region and throughout the state. Activities will continue to address all levels of government to determine stakeholder priorities, sustainability issues, governance, interoperability gaps and deployment support required for NPSBN implementation. A primary goal of this project is to better position the region, which includes more than 60% of the state?s population, to fully benefit from the Middle Class Tax legislation, and ultimately provide the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) with a sustainable business model that meets regional broadband requirements, and reflects the overall state objectives.

?The NCRBDC public safety broadband data initiative is highly aggressive, cooperative, and comprehensive. We believe it provides other major cities, UASI regions and metropolitan areas with invaluable insight and best practices for their own public safety broadband efforts in connection with FirstNet, NTIA, and their individual state,? said Rick Burke, Televate?s co-founder and managing partner. ?We appreciate the ongoing confidence and satisfaction that the City and County of Denver and NCRBDC leadership has in Televate to lead this follow-on work.?

How Great Lease Deals are Made | Best New Car Deals

best car lease dealsWe often remind our readers that finding promotional leases from car manufacturers is the way to get the best car deals, better than any deal?customers could negotiate for themselves.

The fundamental reason this is true is that when a customer negotiates a car lease with a dealer, the dealer can only negotiate one thing?? price ? the price that the lease will be based on. ?He cannot, and is not authorized to, negotiate money factor (finance rate) or lease-end residual value, the other important factors that determine lease payment amount.

[Many novice car consumers try to negotiate monthly payments with dealers, which is the worst possible way to get a new-car deal and it gives the dealer all the advantage ? including?creating an agreeable payment that is based on a price that is higher than MSRP. Dealers love customers who only know to negotiate payments.]

A car manufacturer however can, through his finance company affiliate, not only discount vehicle lease price but also reduce money factor and boost residual value ? which creates low monthly payments. This is how great lease deals are made ? without any need for awkward and stressful haggling with dealers.

In fact, manufacturer-sponsored car lease deals?are the least expensive way to drive a brand new car, including rebates, bonuses, and even 0% APR loan rates.

Let?s take a look at how it works.

For our example, we?ll use the 2013 Infiniti G37?AWD Coupe which we?ve identified as one of the best lease deals available at the time of this writing (see Outstanding Infiniti Lease Deals ). The current lease offer for this vehicle from Infiniti is $379/month, 24 months, $2999 due at signing ($2620 down payment plus $379 first month?s payment). LeaseGuide.com scores this deal at a very high 140, which is rated Outstanding.

[You can evaluate and score your own car lease deals at www.leaseguide.com/leasevalue-calc.cfm]

Promotional lease
To create this special lease deal, Infiniti has discounted the price by $2037 (MSRP $45,595 minus Cap Cost $43,558). They?have?also?set the lease-end residual at $33,284, which is an incredible 73% of MSRP. A normal residual percentage for this car would be about 58%. The money factor is a super-low .00041, which is equivalent to 0.98% APR finance rate. At $379/month, this is a great deal!

Normal lease
Now let?s look at what a ?normal? non-promotional lease for this vehicle would be. We will assumed that the lease is based on full MSRP (no price discount), same down payment of $2620, a normal residual percentage of 58% , and a national-average new-car interest rate of 3.80% (.00160 money factor). The resulting monthly payment would be $830.10/month.

Even if we assume that we could negotiate the full $2037 price discount (very unlikely), the payment would still be a very high $741.97/month.

Lease versus buy
Let?s compare the special lease above with buying the same car with a 24 month loan, full MSRP of $45,595, same down payment of $2620, and a normal 3.80% APR loan rate. With these factors, the monthly loan payment would be a whopping $1862.36/month.

Even if we assume we could get the full $2037 price discount (unlikely), and get a slightly better loan rate of 2.9% APR, and spread out the purchase loan term to 48 months, our monthly payment is still $904.33/month.

Further, if Infiniti were to offer a 0% APR loan rate, which they sometimes do, the purchase loan payment would be $852.86/month ? compared to $379/month lease payment.

Summary
For 2013 Infiniti G37 Coupe:

- Normal no-discount purchase loan 24 months ? $1862/month
- Discounted price purchase loan 48 months ? $904/month
- 0% APR purchase loan 48 months ? $853/month

- Normal lease ? 24 months ? $830/month
- Promotional lease ? 24 months ? $379/month

VW Introduces Think Blue Umbrella With Touareg Hybrid Launch ...

Volkswagen Group Malaysia are introducing their environmental sustainability initiative called ?Think Blue Umbrella? with the launch of their fuel-saving Touareg Hybrid SUV.

?Think Blue? became the umbrella for Volkswagen?s activities relating to sustainability back in 2010 and has been introduced in more than 30 markets in the world.?They are promoting their initiative across the globe, putting more environmentally sound vehicles with lower emissions and encouraging everyone to drive in the most environmentally friendly way they can.

?Think Blue is an attitude that goes beyond technologies and products. It reflects the spirit of the time, setting new benchmarks for environmental responsibility, fuel consumption and emissions, and it encompasses all environmental initiatives within the Volkswagen Group under one roof. Launch of the Touareg Hybrid is the first step towards introducing Think Blue in Malaysia. At Volkswagen, we believe that our new product offerings will support our agenda of encouraging eco-conscious behaviour and contributing to a sustainable future.? said?Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia Ricky Tay.

?The recently concluded Malaysian budget showcases the Malaysian government?s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability with increased investment and encouragement to green technology based products. At Volkswagen, Blue is the new Green and we see the launch of the Touareg Hybrid as well as Think Blue as initiatives that support the important pillars of development in Malaysia.? he added.

As the vehicle to lead their initiative, this Touareg Hybrid SUV boasts big power and torque but, at the same time, delivers class-leading fuel efficiency. The 3-litre V6 TSI petrol engine with electric motor produces a maximum output of 375 hp and a mighty 580 Nm of torque at 3,000 to 5,250 rpm and mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, it accelerates to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds, topping out at 240 km/h.

Despite the excellent performance figures, this new Hybrid SUV still returns a remarkable combined cycle fuel consumption of just 8.2 litres/100km and has a CO2 emissions level of just 193g/km. Additionally, in?compliance with its eco-conscious feature, there?s no plug-in required as the car will automatically recharge itself while in drive mode.

It also comes standard with the Start/Stop and re-generative braking systems, Hybrid Powertrain Monitoring System, e-Mode button, air suspension and 19-inch ?Salamanca? alloy wheels.?So far, only Tungsten Silver Metallic finish is offered here.

This new Volkswagen Touareg Hybrid SUV is now available for RM616,888 at all authorised dealerships nationwide.

Think Blue Drives Into Malaysia On The Touareg Hybrid

Volkswagen introduces its commitment to environmental sustainability

KUALA LUMPUR, October 9 ? The Touareg Hybrid is now introduced in the Malaysian market, heralding the roll-out of Volkswagen?s Think Blue umbrella here.

An extension of the Touareg product line up, the new Touareg Hybrid extends the brand?s SUV segment and offerings to Malaysian consumers as an alternative in sustainable and responsible mobility.

Showcased on the brand?s Think Blue platform at the Volkswagen Das Auto Show 2012 recently, this model is a true showcase of Volkswagen?s brand promise of innovation, responsibility, and sustainability. The Touareg Hybrid features Volkswagen?s pioneering TSI technologies that come together to make the vehicle economical and efficient without compromising on quality and performance, into a hybrid package, thus accentuating the Think Blue umbrella.

The objective of Think Blue, an environmental sustainability umbrella by Volkswagen that has already been rolled out in 30 markets, including internally within Volkswagen Group Malaysia, addresses the need to harmonise individual mobility and sustainable behaviour in the future. The philosophy links innovation, responsibility for the environment, and collective actions to achieve this goal.

Commenting on the roll out of Think Blue and the launch of the Toureg Hybrid in Malaysia, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia Ricky Tay said, ?Think Blue is an attitude that goes beyond technologies and products.

?The recently concluded Malaysian budget showcases the Malaysian government?s commitment to energy efficiency and environmental sustainability with increased investment and encouragement to green technology based products. At Volkswagen, Blue is the new Green and we see the launch of the Touareg Hybrid as well as Think Blue as initiatives that support the important pillars of development in Malaysia,? added Mr Tay.

The highlight of the Touareg Hybrid is the combination of the revolutionary TSI engine and Volkswagen?s advanced hybrid drive system, aimed at creating engines that offer significant benefits by reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions without compromising on their superb power delivery. These technologies embody Volkswagen?s commitment to environmental sustainability and were introduced in the country long before Think Blue. More efficiency, less pollution, unlimited driving pleasure: technologies and products that achieve environmental compatible mobility without sacrificing dynamic performance and everyday suitability is an important element of this TSI technology.

The recipe for the success of Volkswagen?s TSI engines is to be found in the brand?s ?downsizing? strategy. Maximum power is obtained with minimum fuel consumption from a smaller engine. The reduction in engine size has brought better efficiency, as there is less power loss resulting from friction. The smaller engines also have the advantage of being lighter.

Touareg Hybrid

A 3-litre, six-cylinder petrol engine, the Touareg Hybrid encompasses Volkswagen?s TSI technology to deliver class-leading fuel efficiency. Attaining the maximum power of 380PS, its maximum torque ? a hefty 580Nm ? is available over an immense range of engine speeds: 3,000rpm to 5,250rpm.? This sets the stage for responsive engine performance.

Mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the Touareg Hybrid can sprint from a standstill to 100kph in just 6.5 seconds with a top speed of 240kph. Despite excellent acceleration performance, this vehicle still returns remarkable fuel consumption, with 8.2 litres/100km on the combined cycle and has a CO2 emissions level of 193g/km. As such, it has very high power and torque performance with significantly reduced fuel consumption.

To comply with its eco-conscious feature, there is no plug-in required as the car is automatically recharged while it is in drive mode and thus, the combination between the petrol engine and the electric motor are effortless and seamless.

Additionally, the Touareg Hybrid comes with the Start/Stop and re-generative braking systems, Hybrid Powertrain Monitoring System, e-Mode button, air suspension and 19-inch ?Salamanca? alloy wheels.

The Touareg Hybrid is now available for order at all Volkswagen authorised dealerships nationwide and is priced at RM616,888. The car is available in Tungsten Silver Metallic.

The Orbital Control Desktop [Featured Desktop]

The Orbital Control Desktop Many of the desktops we feature are minimal, practical, and elegant. This one's on the cluttered side, and it's not terribly practical when you have apps open all over it, but it's definitely fun to look at, and reminds us a bit of a computer display from a sci-fi film. Flickr user Aaron Lloyd shared this with us, and boy is it packed with tools and information.

If you want the same look for your Windows desktop, here are the components you'll need:

  • The wallpaper from Wallbase (or more approprately, NASA)
  • The Rainmeter system configuration and management utility for Windows
  • The Hi-Tech Desktop theme for Rainmeter to create the circular menus, globe, time and date, weather conditions, volume slider on the right, system montioring meters, and recycle bin widgets
  • The Illustro Rainmeter skin (built-in) for the inbox widget, Google search, and RSS feed monitor
  • The Cityscapes Rainmeter skin, which we can't find to save our lives (if someone has a link, we'll post it here!) to create the center clock and date.

This one has a lot of overlapping elements, so if you like some of the elements here, you could probably apply them to your own desktop and retain some clear and open space. Still, we know some of you prefer the data-packed desktops, so this might be up your alley. Not sure how to make this work? Head over to Aaron's Flickr page to ask him how he put it all together (and where he got that Cityscapes skin!) If you're new to Rainmeter, check out our getting started guide to get familiar with it and customize your own desktop!

When you're finished building a beautiful, creative, and functional desktop, share with the world! Submit it to the Lifehacker Desktop Show and Tell Flickr Group so we can see it! Please include a description of how you made it - without that, we can't tell others how to make it for themselves. Do these things, and it may just be the next featured desktop!

CEO to workers: You'll be fired if Obama is re-elected

David Manning / Reuters

Westgate Resorts CEO David Siegel, shown at his home in Windermere, Fla., earlier this year, has told his workers that if President Barack Obama is elected and taxes go up, he will have to lay off workers.

By Robert Frank, CNBC Reporter & Editor

David Siegel, the owner of Westgate Resorts, sent a surprising email to his employees Monday.

It said that if President Barack Obama wins re-election and raises Siegel's taxes, he will have to lay off workers and downsize his company ? or even shut it down.

"If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company," he wrote. "Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone."

In a version of Romney's "47 percent" remarks, Siegel added that "people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for."

The points are ones that have often been made during this election. But what makes the letter surprising is the source.

David Siegel is the man who, together with his wife, Jackie, built the largest new house in America, known as "Versailles." His story first appeared in my book, "The High-Beta Rich." It then made it to the big screen with the documentary film "The Queen of Versailles."

CNBC: Tech Startups Look to Revolutionize Politics

They became symbols of outsized spending, debt and real estate in America.

But when the company started buckling under $1 billion in debt during the crisis, the Siegels' home went into foreclosure and was put up for sale. They cut back on the jet, took the kids out of private school and gave up some of their staff.

So why is David Siegel ? a man who defined excess and debt in the 2000s ? now saying that debt and spending are ruining the country?

I asked David and during a phone interview last night, and he told me that this was about his workers, not himself. He said his own finances have vastly improved. He has paid off all of his major lenders.? "I have enough money for the rest of my life and enough to leave a good inheritance for our kids." He said the loan for Versailles is paid off and he's resuming construction on the home.

CNBC: States That Donate the Most to Presidential Campaigns

"The elevators are going in and they're preparing to put in the marble."

The deal with Versailles' lenders, he went on, worked out "better than I imagined," since he was allowed to go nine months without making any interest payments on the loan. Jackie has several offers for a new reality TV show "which we're in the process of ranking and evaluating," Siegel said.

He has learned his own painful lesson from the debt crunch. "We cut back, we're lean and mean. That's what the rest of the country has to do."

Siegel said he's not acting out of self interest, but for the interest of his workers. While Westgate has never been more profitable, the company has 5,000 fewer workers than in 2007.

CNBC: Who?s Ahead in 7-Eleven?s Election Coffee Poll?

He said that if Obama is re-elected and imposes Obamacare and higher taxes, he may just have to let more of his remaining 7,000 workers go. He said he might even shut down the company.

"The combination of Obamacare and taxes would be a disaster," he said." I would probably just call it a day and that would be a disaster."

Siegel stressed that he wasn't out to intimidate his workers into voting for Romney. "I can't tell anyone to vote," he said. But he wants to make sure his workers made an informed choice. "I want my employees to be educated on what could happen to their future if the wrong person is elected."

CNBC: The Debate?s Biggest Loser: The Wealthy

Below is the full email that Siegel sent to his employees Monday. (Siegel admitted to me that he used a similar email circulating on the web as "the basis" of his own email).

Subject: Message from David Siegel

Date:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 13:58:05 -0400 (EDT)

From: [David Siegel]

To: [All employees]

To All My Valued Employees,

As most of you know our company, Westgate Resorts, has continued to succeed in spite of a very dismal economy. There is no question that the economy has changed for the worse and we have not seen any improvement over the past four years. In spite of all of the challenges we have faced, the good news is this: The economy doesn't currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can't tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn't interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best.

However, let me share a few facts that might help you decide what is in your best interest. The current administration and members of the press have perpetuated an environment that casts employers against employees. They want you to believe that we live in a class system where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. They label us the "1%" and imply that we are somehow immune to the challenges that face our country. This could not be further from the truth. Sure, you may have heard about the big home that I'm building. I'm sure many people think that I live a privileged life. However, what you don't see or hear is the true story behind any success that I have achieved.

I started this company over 42 years ago. At that time, I lived in a very modest home. I converted my garage into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. We didn't eat in fancy restaurants or take expensive vacations because every dollar I made went back into this company. I drove an old used car, and often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business ? hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, many of my friends got regular jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a nice income, and they spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into this business ?-with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford to buy whatever I wanted. Even to this day, every dime I earn goes back into this company. Over the past four years I have had to stop building my dream house, cut back on all of my expenses, and take my kids out of private schools simply to keep this company strong and to keep you employed.

Just think about this ? most of you arrive at work in the morning and leave that afternoon and the rest of your time is yours to do as you please. But not me- there is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have that freedom. I eat, live, and breathe this company every minute of the day, every day of the week. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. I know many of you work hard and do a great job, but I'm the one who has to sign every check, pay every expense, and make sure that this company continues to succeed. Unfortunately, what most people see is the nice house and the lavish lifestyle. What the press certainly does not want you to see, is the true story of the hard work and sacrifices I've made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don't pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I even have to hire an entire department to manage all these taxes. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like me who built a company out of his garage and directly employs over 7000 people and hosts over 3 million people per year with a great vacation?

Obviously, our present government believes that taking my money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, if I deducted 50 percent of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? Who wants to get rewarded only 50 percent of their hard work? Well, that's what happens to me.

Here is what most people don't understand and the press and our Government has chosen to ignore ? to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Instead of raising my taxes and depositing that money into the Washington black-hole, let me spend it on growing the company, hire more employees, and generate substantial economic growth. My employees will enjoy the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But that is not what our current Government wants you to believe. They want you to believe that it somehow makes sense to take more from those who create wealth and give it to those who do not, and somehow our economy will improve. They don't want you to know that the "1%", as they like to label us, pay more than 31% of all the taxes in this country. Thomas Jefferson, the author of our great Constitution, once said, "democracy" will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not."

Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate business, not kill it. However, the power brokers in Washington believe redistributing wealth is the essential driver of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change they want.

So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.

So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn't? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the "1 percenters" are bad, I'm telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the "1%"; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.

You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the Caribbean sitting on the beach, under a palm tree, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

Signed, your boss,

David Siegel

CNBC's Robert Frank reports one CEO sent quite the surprising e-mail to employees this week, saying if President Obama is re-elected, he'll have to lay off workers and downsize the entire company.
